The Beijing Temple is an Isu vault located underneath the Forbidden City in Beijing, China.
History
In her childhood, Shao Jun, an imperial concubine who would later become a Chinese Assassin, discovered the vault during her nighttime explorations of the Forbidden City and its secret tunnels. She ventured through the vault several times while sneaking out of the Imperial Palace and, on one occasion in 1517, attempted to lead her friend Zhang Qijie through the passage, but was unable to due to the latter's foot bindings.[1]
At the time, Shao Jun did not question the strange nature of the tunnel, though she took notice of its unusual sharp-edged gleaming walls.[1] It would not be until years later, during a conversation with a Buddhist monk about her Isu lineage, that Shao Jun finally realized the truth about the Precursor vault.[2]
