Sól was the personification of the sun in Norse mythology.

Mythology

In both the Prose Edda and Poetic Edda, Sól is said to have been the sister of Máni, goddess of the moon, and daughter of Mundilfari. In the Prose Edda, she was the wife of Glenr. Much like Odin's death at the jaws of Fenrir, she was foretold to be slain by a wolf during Ragnarök.[1]

Legacy and influence

During the 9th century, Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan collected a bow named after her.[2]
