The Order of the Ancients was a secretive cabal operating during ancient times, and a precursor group to the Order of the Knights Templar, who sought to use the relics of the ancient gods to achieve peace for mankind under their rule.
During the end of the Ptolemaic dynasty of Egypt, they exploited the young Pharaoh Ptolemy XIII as their puppet, and secretly ruled Egypt from the shadows. After Ptolemy's death, they turned to support Julius Caesar.
Overview
