Mao Zedong (毛泽东; 1893 – 1976), was a Chinese communist revolutionary who founded the People's Republic of China (PRC), which he ruled as Chairman of the Communist Party of China from its establishment in 1949 until his death in 1976. His formation of the PRC was brought about by his victory over the Republic of China governed by Kuomintang leader Chiang Kai-shek in the Chinese Civil War, whereby he seized the entirety of Mainland China.
In 2012, Clay Kaczmarek included within one of the Rift puzzles a photograph of a rally by the Revolutionary Communist Party of Canada (RCP Canada) at the 2010 G-20 Toronto summit.[1][2] Prominent in the photograph is a banner with the words "Capitalism is a failure / Revolution is the solution!" and Mao Zedong's face as an icon,[1] an indication of his persisting influence on movements in other parts of the world.
