A view of Anaphi

Anaphi, also referred to as Ash Hills, is a Greek island located in the Aegean Sea, between the islands of Thera and Nisyros. Together with them, Anaphi formed the Greek region called the Volcanic Islands, and is also part of the Kyklades.

A Minoan settlement once exisited on the southern shore and east of the island. It collapsed and faded into obscurity along with the Minoan sites on the island of Krete in the south.

History[edit | edit source]

By the Peloponnesian War, the island was largely uninhabited, save for a band of bandits who made the ruins their camp. At some point during said conflict, the misthios Kassandra travelled to the island, helping a woman in Heraklion on Krete to look for her fisherman husband. Kassandra found a shipwreck by the shore and saved a group of fishermen from bandits.[1]
