The villa inside the granary

The Kerkesoucha Granary was a storehouse and estate located in the Faiyum Oasis, north of Krokodilopolis. During the 1st century BCE, it was the personal residence of Berenike, the nomarch of the region and a member of the Order of the Ancients.[1]

In 48 BCE, after learning of Berenike's identity as a member of the Order and the killer of Hotephres' daughter Shadya, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa, travelled to the estate to assassinate Berenike once and for all. There, he saw his old friend Kensa, who was employed by Berenike as her personal bodyguard. This didn't impede Bayek in his mission.[1]

Trivia

  • Kerkesoucha is Greek for 'settlement of Souchos'. Souchos is the Greek name of Sobek.[2]
