Uranus, also spelled Ouranos (Οὐρανός, lit. "sky'), is the primordial personification of the sky in Greek mythology. His Roman counterpart is called Caelus.[1]
According to Hesiod's 8th century BCE poem Theogony, Uranus was suddenly born to Gaia, whom he then mated with to father the twelve Titans, the three Cyclopes, and the three Hekatonchires. When the Titan Kronos castrated Uranus to depose him, his blood fell to Earth and spawned the Erinyes, the Giants, and the ash tree nymphs called Meliae,[1] while his testicles were cast in the ocean and the sperm spontaneously birthed the goddess Aphrodite.[2]
During the Peloponnesian War, the Cult of Kosmos' espionage-focused Eyes of Kosmos branch was led by a Sage called Nyx the Shadow, who owned a dagger inspired by the myth of Uranus' wounding. She kept it on her person until the mercenary Kassandra the Eagle-Bearer killed her and claimed the dagger for herself.[3]
