Richard Bolster was a English boy who lived with his family on their estate in southern Ireland. He was the son of Brandon Bolster and brother to Jane and another sister.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 1822, Brandon decided to use his farm lands to feed cattle and increase his income, depriving his farmers of the means to feed their families. The Whiteboys affixed a threat to the Bolsters' barn door, and while Richard agreed with them, Brandon stubbornly refused to negotiate with the farmers.[1]
