The Robbers' North Outpost was a bandit hideout in the eastern half of Ramm Valley, al-Ula and was a main location from which they terrorized the al-Ula Valley.
History[edit | edit source]
In the 860s, the corrupt merchant Nimlot led a gang of robbers that terrorized the valley.[1] Holding a grudge against the Alamut Hidden One Basim ibn Ishaq[2] for having publicly murdered his father Mas'ood Al-Ya'qoob in the main caravanserai outside Baghdad,[3] Nimlot ordered his men to kidnap Basim's father Ishaq ibn Khalid and take him to the valley. Basim travelled there in search of Ishaq and found the outpost after seeing a map to its location at the Robbers' Water Supply.[1] In this hidden den, Basim located an imprisoned renegade robber who offered information in exchange for his freedom. The man revealed Nimlot's plot and location, further explaining that Basim would need to signal with a specific whistle tune in order to enter the Roman Fort Ruins. Basim picked up a bone whistle from a nearby table and set the man free before heading to the ruins.[4] While in the outpost, Basim also found a clue to one of the robbers' hidden caches, as well as a separate cache itself.[5]
