Murat Bin Husn (born 1474) was an Ottoman Janissary and a member of the Ottoman Brotherhood of Assassins.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Born in Constantinople, Murat was signed up by his parents for the imperial army at age 11, in hopes of a better life. In a few years, Murat had become a respected leader in the Janissary army and was consequently recruited by General, and Mentor, Ishak Pasha for his personal guard.[2]

After using Murat as a bodyguard for sometime, Ishak Pasha introduced the Janissary to the Ottoman Brotherhood of Assassins as a promising recruit. Murat distinguished himself both during his Assassin missions and his Jannisary duties, and soon became part of all the teams constituted by Ishak Pasha.[2] Murat later met Aleksei Zima, an Orthodox priest and a disillusioned Templar whom Murat convinced to join the Brotherhood and become their informant within the Byzantine Templars' ranks.[3]

In 1495, Ishak Pasha went to Spain for a secret mission to recover Niccolò Polo's journal, taking with him a small team composed of his best Assassins, including his trusted bodyguard, Murat.[4]

Following the death of his Grand Vizier and recognizing Murat's unbreakable will, Sultan Bayezid II rewarded him with the armor of Ishak Pasha, which some believed held magical powers. Murat hid the armor in a tomb underneath the Hagia Sophia and renovated the Great Chain to protect the city.[1]

A few months later, the Italian Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze infiltrated Constantinople,[5] stole the armor,[6] and destroyed the chain.[7] Fearing for their lives, Murat and his family fled from the city.[1]
