Eivor exploring one of the tombs

The Tombs of the Fallen were vaults of Isu origin that were located in Great Britain.

History[edit | edit source]

After being discovered by the ancient Britons that inhabited England up till the Early Middle Ages, the vaults were later used as tombs for the various Briton heroes who opposed and led the defense of Britain against the Roman Republic and later the Roman Empire. The heroes included Queen Boudicca of the Iceni, King Cassivellaunus of the Catuvellauni, and King Venutius of the Brigantes.[1]

During the reign of Emperor Nero, the tombs were discovered by the engineer Manius Calvisius, who reported the findings of the vault to the Emperor. On Nero's order, Manius was instructed to take control of the tombs and keep them away from the local population. Manius thus built a number of traps and puzzles across the tombs in an attempt to prevent anyone from entering and claiming the artifacts within.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The Tombs of the Fallen are explorable locations in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. They were added into the game beginning with Title Update 1.4.0 on 9 November 2021 alongside the Oskoreia Festival, though their plot arc involving Eivor's sudden one-word declarations of Isu words was not resolved until the second part was released with Title Update 1.6.1 on 27 September 2022.

The first update introduced the core concept of the tombs with Manius's Sanctum, as well as full-fledged settings for the challenge in Boudicca Tomb, Cassivellaunus Tomb, and Venutius Tomb. These four locations contain pieces of the Fallen Heroes set. The second update released Togodomnus' Tomb, Verica's Tomb, and Eden Ring Station, the final location that is only accessible with the five artifacts hidden in detours within the five main tombs. Each of these three locations rewards a new weapon: Togodomnus' Bearded Axe, Verica's Sickle, and The Blazing Sword, respectively.
