The Seleucid was a Greek gladiator who fought in the Arena in Cyrene. He typically fought armed with a glaive.

In 47 BCE, he was challenged by the Medjay Bayek of Siwa, who witnessed him throwing a sword at one of the spectators in the arena. Bayek later defeated the gladiator with a spear and shield.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

The name Seleucid is a reference to the Seleucid Empire, possibly hinting that the gladiator originated from the state.
It is possible that the Seleucid's real name is 'Antiogos' because of one of the commentator's lines before the fight.
- Αντιοχος (Antiochos), from Greek αντι (anti) "against, compared to, like" and οχη (oche) "support", was the name of several rulers of the Seleucid Empire.
