Besa was an Egyptian dream interpreter who lived in Thebes, Egypt during the reign of Cleopatra.

Biography[edit | edit source]

During the late 1st century BCE, Besa served as as a dream interpreter in Thebes. At some point, he met Miane, a woman who lived in a farm in the outskirts of the city with her younger brother, Tapti. Besa took in Miane as his student, who lived and trained with him in the city. During this period of time, Tapti, who had a close relationship with his sister, resented Besa for "taking" his city away. As such, he began plotting to disrupt Besa's teachings and have his sister returned to him. To this end, Hapti accused Besa of hiding information regarding the "curse" plaguing the city, causing him to be arrested by the guards and taken to Luxor. At the same time, Tapti stole Besa's personal scrolls and hid it in the cellar beneath his home.[1]

Sometime later, Besa was freed by the Hidden One Bayek of Siwa, having being directed to Luxor by Miane. Besa later directed Bayek to Tapti's farm, requesting him to retrieve his personal scrolls. Bayek later did so and returned to both Besa and Miane in the city, reporting Tapti's death to his sister.[1]

Later that year, Bayek returned to Besa in the city, aftering returning from his journey in the Duat. Bayek explained his encounters in the afterlife to Besa, who helped him to decipher the meanings behind them.[2]
