Utbech was a small settlement of stilt huts constructed between Walden and Ravensburg in the marshes of central Grantebridgescire. It was manned by Anglo-Saxon soldiers loyal to the ealdorman and Order of the Ancients member Wigmund. Leofgifu, another member of the Order, was also based in Utbech along with her mercenaries.

History

In 873, Utbech was instructed by Wigmund not to attack a longship painted with yellow paint. The ship had belonged to a Viking named Galinn who betrayed his clan and jarl Soma in Grantebridge which allowed the Saxons to take the city and drive out the Vikings. Grantebridge was soon retaken by the Vikings and Eivor Varinsdottir, an ally of Soma, visited Utbech to assist Soma in finding the traitor. Within one of the huts, Eivor discovered a note with specific instructions given by Wigmund.[1]

Around the same time, Eivor also tracked down and eliminate the Order member Leofgifu on behalf of the Hidden One Hytham.[2]
