Temple of Sekhmet

The Temple of Sekhmet was a temple complex located in Yamu by Lake Mareotis. It was known for its Festival of Sekhmet, which commemorated the lion goddess' victory against Isfet, culminating in an event in which two combatants, a Champion of Sekhmet fought with a Champion of Isfet.[1] Menehet, an old friend of the Medjay Bayek of Siwa, served as a priest in the temple, and was promoted to be the second in command by the High Priest.[2]

The High Priest also renovated the temple sometime between 53 BCE and 48 BCE, as well as its customs, creating ceremonies "showing (the Yamuans') "rustic" way of life".[2]
