Olof Björnsson, or Olaf (died c. 975), was a King of Sweden during the 10th century. He had a brother, Eric the Victorious, and was the father of Styrbjörn the Strong and Gyrid.

A harsh ruler, Olof was killed by the Hidden Ones who put poison into his meal. Allied with Eric, the Assassins made sure that he was chosen as the new King by the Thing instead of his nephew Björn, who was too much like his father.

Behind the scenes

"Olof" is the Swedish variant of "Olaf", which comes from the Old Norse word Áleifr, meaning "Ancestor's Descendant." In some accounts he is the distant descendant of Ragnar Lothbrok through his son Björn Ironside.
