Kade was an Egyptian farmer who lived in the Green Mountains of Kyrenaika during the 1st century BCE.
Biography
In the mid-1st century BCE, Kade worked in the farmlands of Kyrenaika, providing for his mother, Nenet, who was blind.During his time, he and the farmers befriended a Greek healer, Praxilla.[1]
In around 47 BCE, the proconsul of Cyrenaica, Flavius Metellus, passed by the farmlands during his journey from Siwa to Cyrene. During this time, Flavius made use of a relic he recovered from Siwa, testing the power on the farmers in the region. Kade, his mother, and several others were unaffected by the effects. However, Kade and the unaffected farmers were taken away to work in the Kyrenaika Roman Citadel, forced to work on weapons for the Roman army.[2]
During his time in the citadel, Kade learned of a weapon the Romans were developing, based on a formula by the architect, Vitruvius. At some point, he and the other farmers attempted to rebel, resulting in them being locked in a cage in the camp outside the citadel. However, he and the other farmers were eventually freed by the Medjay, Bayek of Siwa. After being escorted out of the camp, Kade was informed that his mother was taken to safety in Balagrae. Before leaving to Balagrae, He provided Bayek information on the weapons that the Romans were working on, directing him to Vitruvius.[3]
