The Patrai Engineer was an Achaian naval engineer who lived during the Peloponnesian War.

Biography

During the Peloponnesian War, the engineer was noted for his techniques and abilities, said to be one of the best in Greece. For this reason, Phila, the Magi of the Order of the Storm and a naval commander known as the Tempest, hired him to work on creating a weapon for her flag ship, the Skylla. The engineer was reluctant to accept but was eventually forced into doing so in order to protect his wife Parmys. Due to the destructive nature of the weapon, the engineer eventually abandoned the project before its completion, and sought ways to escape Achaia with his wife. However, with the naval blockade placed on Patrai and the region, the engineer was unable to do so.[1]

Later that year, the engineer was sought out by the misthios Kassandra, who learned about his activities from Darius. Kassandra offered to help him with escaping, to which he responded by requesting her to retrieve the plans from the fleet commander at the Temple of Artemis Laphria, so that he could install the weapon on Kassandra's ship and destroy Phila, thereby allowing him to leave. After sending her off, the engineer was then murdered by Megakreon, a member of the Order who had learned of his treachery.[1]

The engineer's death was later avenged when Kassandra and Darius eliminated Megakreon and his guards.[1] Later on, his wife Parmys helped Kassandra by providing her locations of code books needed to install the weapon.[2]
