Bellosh
Bellosh was the leader of a group of 1st century BCE Egyptian bandits based out of the Hugros Hideout in Saqqara Nome.[1]
In 48 BCE, Bellosh and his men were hired by the scholar Merkes to assist with his search for the lost vault of Pharoah Sneferu after Bellosh claimed that he knew the desert better than anyone.[1]
However, true to their nature, the bandits soon betrayed Merkes. They stole one of his artifacts, a scale replica of the Meidum Pyramid, which was one of the pieces required to unlock Sneferu's vault and took it back to their hideout.[1]
The bandits were intercepted by the Medjay Bayek of Siwa when he some of caught Bellosh's men chasing down Merkes in the desert and saved him. Agreeing to help Merkes' quest, Bayek then took on the rest of the bandit camp as he successfully sought out the stolen artifact.[1]
Trivia
- It's unclear who (if any) of the bandits Bayek can encounter is Bellosh. Merkes does, however state that he thinks all of the other bandits are at the Hugros Hideout.
- The character's name is likely an Indiana Jones reference. Indiana Jones' rival Belloq, an unethical 1930s archaeologist who steals artifacts and leads the Nazi expedition at Tanis, Egypt in Raiders of the Lost Ark is misnamed "Bellosh" during the film.
