Assassin's Creed: Codename Jade is the working title for an upcoming mobile installment in the Assassin's Creed series.

Plot synopsis

Explore the path of Xia in Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade. Set in the third century BC during the time of one of the first unified empires in China, an unprecedented era of trade and cultural exchange between East and West is just beginning, but with this comes new challenges and threats lurking in the shadows.

As the adopted child of the master Wei Yu, players will set out on a quest for revenge after their close friend is betrayed. But as they delve deeper into their mission, they will uncover secrets about the past and a powerful force that threatens to destroy everything they hold dear.

From the Great Wall outside the empire’s borders to the imperial capital of Xianyang, journey through a world filled with ancient history and hidden dangers. Defend against the Xiongnu and work to dismantle conspiracies, taking on greater responsibilities, and facing new challenges.^[1]

Gameplay

The game is said to be set in 215 BCE, during the Qin dynasty China featuring a fully customizable character players can create, marking a series first. Codename Jade is set to feature all the iconic gameplay of the franchise, optimized for an experience with touch controls. The ability to parkour atop the Great Wall of China and sneak through bustling cities was teased.^[2]

Development

The conceptual title of the game was first leaked on 6 September 2022 and reported by Try Hard Guides.^[3] It was later confirmed at the Ubisoft Forward livestream during its Assassin's Creed showcase, alongside a short teaser.^[2]

In its alpha stages of testing, which lasted from 15–22 December, the game was referred to as Codename: Explore. It was during this week that nearly an hour of gameplay footage was leaked on 18 December, showing almost complete introductory missions, some open-world exploration, and the ability for players to both decide the protagonist's gender, much like Assassin's Creed: Odyssey and Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, as well as customize their appearance.^[4]

The first Closed Beta Test of the game starts on August 3rd 2023.^[5]

Release

Marketing

On 10 September 2022, Assassin's Creed: Codename Jade was teased during the Assassin's Creed Ubisoft Forward showcase, and an in-engine trailer was shown.^[2]Another trailer for Codename Jade was released at Ubisoft Forward 2023 on June 12 2023 and announced begin register for the closed beta test.
