Xianyang (咸陽) was the capital city of the Qin, the first imperial dynasty of China.[1] Still a major city in the present day,[2] it is situated on the north bank of the Wei River across from Chang'an, which was the capital of the Tang dynasty.[3] During the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, it was the site of Wangxian Palace, which was presided over by the local county magistrate.[3]
