Sophos (died c. 422 BCE), also known as the Broker, was a shipwright from Patrai and a member of the Order of the Storm.
Biography
Sometime in or before 422 BCE, Sophos was approached by Phila to be recruited into their midst. Phila saw his wealth and sought to use him, Sophos meanwhile accepted knowing full well they intended to use him, what the Order did not foresee was him using them.[1] Sophos funded the Order via his shipbuilding enterprise.[2]
During the Achaian blockade, Sophos received a letter from his fellow Ancient the Formidable after he had run a fleet of triremes into the rocks on Scavenger's Coast, informed him of the three ships worth of unspoiled wood for his shipyard, he also warned the Broker about the Eagle Bearer.[3]
Sophos was also ordered by the Unbreakable not to engage the Eagle Bearer, although he did not heed his warning, challenging his leadership. Goading him into seeking out the Eagle Bearer himself to prove his worth to the Tempest.[4]
A stolen shipping manifest signed by Sophos with the seal of the Order was found by the Eagle Bearer–the Spartan misthios Kassandra in Shipwreck Cove clutched in the hands of a deceased worker,[5] led to his eventual demise when she tracked him down to Patrai and eliminated him.[6]
