Simonides was a Greek magistrate of Cyrene who lived during the 1st century BCE.

In around 47 BCE, he worked alongside fellow magistrate Diocles to uncover the corruption of Leander, a third magistrate who had allied himself with Flavius Metellus. Though Simonides went to the party at Leander's Villa in order to find proof of Leander's corruption, he lost himself in the pleasures offered, and the following day fondly reminisced about his acquaintance Ipthos losing his toga.[1]
