In 2016, a number of raids on the Aerie at its main facility and its field site were conducted by the Assassins in order to recover the Trident of Eden.
Background
Sebastian Monroe, an Abstergo Industries employee, discovered a sub-code hidden within the human genome dubbed the collective unconscious and the Ascendance Events, convergences of certain bloodlines in moments in history where parts of the Trident of Eden were active. Becoming obsessed with these he told his superior Isaiah who likewise became obsessed. After being forbidden to use an Animus on himself, Monroe steals one and flees Abstergo.
Having tracked down a convergence of the bloodlines relating to the Ascendence Events, Monroe obtained a job as an IT technician at a local highschool and offered the use of his stolen Animus to several students: Grace and David Collins, Sean Molloy, Natalya Aliyev, Javier Mondragón, and Owen Meyers. However being tracked in turned by the Templars, an Abstergo strike team raided Monroe’s warehouse taking custody of Grace, David, Sean, and Natalya bringing them to the Aerie to continue the search for the Trident but for the Templars while Javier and Owen were rescued by the Assassins.
First raid
Having lost the first Prong of the Trident and realizing that Javier and Owen were genetic dead ends for the second Prong, the Assassin Griffin decided to raid the Aerie in order to free the other teenagers. Owen and Javier convinced him to bring them along in order to act as a friendly face for the other kids. Their raid coincided with Monroe’s own infiltration of the facility. Monroe had already made it to the teenagers and convinced David and Natalya to leave with him but were pinned down in a garage where they were found by Owen and Javier. Griffin having been separated from the two provided a diversion to split Abstergo’s forces. With Owen and Monroe staying behind to provide cover fire, Javier made it out of the garage with David and Natalya in one of the high-tech vehicles kept within. Meeting up with Griffin, they managed to escape the facility and subsequent pursuit using the stealth capabilities of the car.
Raid in Mongolia
Having been informed of Isaiah’s expedition to Mongolia to recover the second Prong by Rothenburg, a mole within Abstergo, Griffin planned to hit him there. After conferring with Gavin Banks with what to do with the teenagers, they all flew to China and rendezvoused with another Assassin, Yanmei and then flew on to Mongolia where they were shot down but all managed to survive. At the same time, Monroe, Grace, and Owens had smuggled themselves to Mongolia as well with the help of Cole, a Templar field agent who owed Monroe a favor. David thinking he was receiving a signal from his sister was captured by the Templars and infighting among the Assassins’ group allowed Isaiah to acquire the Prong after which he killed Yanmei and then left the field site, declaring his defection from the Templar Order.
