The Petrified Valley, misty

The Petrified Valley is a vale which constitutes the western region of the island of Lesbos, Greece. The valley hid in its misty depths an ancient Isu temple which housed the Writhing Dread, a hybrid creature created by the Isu as part of their Olympos Project.

History

At some point in their history, the Daughters of Artemis made their home within the Valley, training there. Once, they discovered an artefact in a viper-filled pit.[1] Some time later, they abandoned the Valley and their former residence, the artefact taken to their village on Chios.[1]

During the 5th century BCE, the Cult of Kosmos learned of an artifact hidden in the depths of the Valley, and hired a group of mercenaries, among them Zetes, to fetch it for them.[2] In addition to the mercenaries, a Daughter of Artemis by the name of Ligeia also journeyed into the depths of the valley. Afterwards, Zetes was called the "Slayer of the Writhing Dread", and his spear was known as the Gorgon Slayer, having survived his encounter with the creature.[2]

Some time later, the Spartan misthios Kassandra was led into the depths of the valley by Bryce, Ligeia's lover, in search of the Daughter of Artemis.[1]
