The island of Kos

Kos is a Greek island in the Aegean Sea off the coast of Turkey that is part of the Southern Sporades archipelago alongside its sister island, Samos.[1]

The birthplace of Hippokrates, popularly heralded as the founder of Western medicine, Kos' main industry in the 5th century BCE was medicine itself.[2] [3][4]

During the Peloponnesian War, the school was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[5]
