Hypnos: Difference between revisions

Hypnos is the Greek personification of sleep. Son of the siblings Erebus and Nyx, he was the twin brother of Thanatos, with whom he lived in the Underworld.

Biography

According to Layla Hassan's Bios of the Gods, Hypnos' brothers were Charon and Thanatos, and their father was Erebus.^[1]

Influence

During her travels in the simulation of Elysium, the Spartan misthios Kassandra destroyed several torches of Hypnos inside Persephone's strongholds. She also visited a cave dedicated to him within Pheraia's Retreat.^[2]

Trivia

The Greek word for Hypnos, Ὕπνος, means 'sleep'.
The English word hypnosis finds its origin in the name of Hypnos.
