In Greek mythology, Helios was a Titan and the personification of the Sun, preceding Apollo as the god of the sun. His Roman equivalent is Sol. Like Apollo, Helios also had a sister connected with the moon, Selene.

The sun was believed to be a flaming chariot, which Helios rode across the sky.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War, a set of armor dedicated and inspired by Helios was obtained by the misthios Kassandra.[2]
