"Yes, Enkidu! Food is coming! He is intelligent. And intelligence is supposed to rhyme with patience! Reminds me of someone..."
―Fuladh comparing Enkidu to Basim, 862.[src]-[m]

Enkidu was a male Eastern imperial eagle who served as a companion to the Alamut Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq during the 9th century.

Biography

Enkidu was raised in the Hidden Ones' camp at Alamut by the Eagle-Master Fuladh Al Haami. Like the other eagles, he was to be entrusted to a member of the Brotherhood as a companion once they completed their training. In February 862, Enkidu was introduced by Fuladh to a new initiate of the Brotherhood, Basim Ibn Ishaq. During the introduction, Fuladh described Enkidu as having a similar personality to Basim.[1]

Eventually, after months of training, Enkidu was assigned to Basim once the Hidden One learned to tame him and completed his initiation into the Brotherhood.[2] As his companion, he helped Basim locate targets and objects of interest, as well as mark dangers such as nearby guards. In some instances, archers would shoot at Enkidu after catching him flying over them, forcing Basim to eliminate the archers to allow Enkidu to resume his reconnaissance.[3]

Following the events that took place in the Alamut Temple, Enkidu ultimately rejected Basim as his master, clawing his face and flying away when he was summoned. This may be due to the fact that Enkidu sensed Basim had changed and was no longer the same person.[4]

Behind the scenes

Enkidu is a companion animal to Basim in Assassin's Creed: Mirage, and functions similarly to the previous avian companions in the series: Senu, Ikaros, and Sýnin. He first appeared in the game's reveal livestream, flying in the skies above Baghdad. His name was first revealed in a report by Game Informer,[5] and is a reference to the legendary figure of the same name from ancient Mesopotamian mythology.

Skins

Through the use of Animus modifications, Enkidu's appearance can be changed to skins that can be purchased from stables or the Helix Store.
