Dionysias Caravanserai was a military compound located west of Dionysias in Faiyum, Egypt.
In 47 BCE, the soldiers there seized the bandit leader Son of Ra and held him captive. The captain of the place at the time, Kallipos, wanted to execute Son of Ra, but his superiors forbid this. Following Son of Ra's trail with a farmer warrior Zahra, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa found Son of Ra in the Dionysias Caravanserai and killed him.[1]
Trivia
- The compound's name is a combination of the words "Dionysias", which was the name of a town nearby and caravanserai, a type of roadside inn where travelers could rest in.
