The Narodnaya Volya (Наро́дная во́ля, lit. "People's Will") were an organized group of revolutionaries based in Tsarist Russia and a sub-sect of the Russian Brotherhood of Assassins. Seen by contemporaries as a terrorist organization, they were responsible for a number of acts of sabotage and murder—their most infamous operation being the assassination of Tsar Alexander II of Russia[1] with a bomb by Ignacy Hryniewiecki[2] after five separate attempts on his life.[1] Other notable members of the organization included Andrei Orelov, his son Nikolai, and Aleksandr Ulyanov.[1]
