Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is a short French webcomic published by Glénat Editions. The comic, written by Mathieu Gabella and with art by Paolo Traisci and colors by Fabien Alquier,[1] was released on 26 November 2020. It served as a tie-in to the video game of the same name, and followed the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan as she raided a monastery.

Plot

The comic begins with a couple rushing their cart into a village, warning them of a Viking raid coming from the forest. The guards quickly shut the gates after them and prepare for a battle. Unbeknownst to them, the couple was actually Eivor and an ally, infiltrating the village in order to pillage the monastery from within. Shedding their disguises as they reach the church, they part ways, with Eivor heading for the copyists' chamber. There, she finds a young monk named Edward and gives him a choice: come with her, or lose his hands.

Meanwhile, the guards keep the Vikings at bay with arrow volleys from their bows, before realizing it is another ruse and that the attackers will come on a longship. As Eivor and her ally set fire to the monastery, Edward asks if they are going to take the treasure. Eivor responds that they have surveilled the monastery for weeks and that Edward is the real treasure, being the best copyist in the region.

Some fights break out while the pair of Vikings escort Edward to the wall overlooking the river, where he once again questions Eivor, this time about what they will do to him if the ransom is not paid. Eivor says that, since the monks write so much on Vikings, he could hazard a guess; after all, "[they] massacre entire villages" and "[they] are crazy." She then claims that the monks got one thing right, just as the longboat passes beneath them, prompting the trio to jump.
