The Aztec Club of 1847 is a military society founded in 1847 by United States Army officers of the Mexican-American War. Until 1863, the Aztec Club was in possession of a "Dagger of Eden"–one of the then-seperated prongs of the Trident of Eden–which had been taken to the Americas by Hernán Cortés.

In 1863, the Assassin Varius was tasked by his Mentor with retrieving the Dagger of Eden and bringing it to General Ulysses S. Grant. After he obtained the artifact, he was ambushed by the Templar agent "Cudgel" Cormac, who took the artifact for himself.
