Assassin's Creed is an award-winning video game series that currently consists of three main games, another coming out, four spin-off games, several short films, and a cancelled trilogy of novels. The entire franchise is developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft, with the exception of Assassin's Creed: Altaïr's Chronicles, which was developed by Gameloft a company owned by Ubisoft Between the four games, they have made appearances on the iPhone, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, PSP (PlayStation Portable), Xbox 360 and in the future the Wii U platform. The gameplay, while slightly varying from game to game, consists of a mixture of action and adventure, with a heavy emphasis on stealth and free-running.
