Assassin's Creed: Nexus VR is an upcoming installment in the Assassin's Creed series. It is being developed by Ubisoft's Red Storm Entertainment and will release on 16 November 2023 for the Oculus Quest.

Plot synopsis

Abstergo Industries has found a way to retrieve powerful lost artifacts that can tap into anyone’s lifetime of memories in order to manipulate their beliefs. To sabotage their plan, you’ll step into history, uncover brand-new stories, and accomplish missions as Ezio, Kassandra, and Connor. Play a pivotal role as you parkour freely through the maps, interact with civilians and historical figures (yes, including Leonardo da Vinci), and save the future from Abstergo’s quest for control.[1]

Character profiles

PROFILE

Ezio Auditore da Firenze

BORN

24 June 1459
Florence, Republic of Florence

Ezio Auditore da Firenze was a master Assassin and a member of the noble Auditore family who was active during the Italian Renaissance in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries.

EARLY ADVENTURE

Following the arrest and execution of his family in a Templar plot, Ezio fled with his mother and his sister to Monteriggioni, where he was trained as an Assassin by his uncle Mario.

Ezio pledged to undertake two tasks: to kill the Italian Templars and to recover the missing pieces of a codex left behind by the Assassin, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.

RECENT EVENTS

In Assassin’s Creed: Nexus VR, you embody Ezio two years after his adventures in Rome during Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Reunite with the Auditore family and old friends such as Leonardo Da Vinci as you discover an untold chapter of Ezio's story full of harrowing conflict, stolen treasures, and revenge.

PROFILE

Kassandra

BORN

458 BCE
Sparta, Lakonia, Greece

Kassandra was a Greek misthios—a mercenary—who was active during the Peloponnesian War. Born in Sparta, she was almost killed as a youth by her stepfather, the Spartan general, Nikolaos.

EARLY ADVENTURES

Following this incident, she fled to Kephallonia where she worked as a misthos, before travelling to mainland Greece where she became involved in the conflict between Athens and Sparta. However, it was not long before she discovered the Cult of Kosmos—a shadowy organization seeking to manipulate the war for their own ends.

RECENT EVENTS

In Assassin's Creed: Nexus VR, you embody Kassandra twenty years after the Battle of Amphipolis. In this new chapter of Kassandra's story, get caught up in a new battle between Athens and Sparta, during the time when the "Thirty Tyrants" brutally rule Athens. Find your way through this violent conflict and finally bring this war to a close.

PROFILE

Connor Kenway

BORN

4 April 1756
Kanatahséton, Mohawk Valley, British America

Ratonhnhaké:ton—the man who would later become known as Connor Kenway—was born in British America to the Kanien'kehá:ka, or Mohawk, people, though his father was the Templar, Haytham Kenway. Following a prophetic vision, Connor took up arms against the Templar Order.

EARLY ADVENTURE

After leaving his village, Connor met the Assassin, Achilles Davenport, who became his friend and mentor, as well as Samuel Adams, who helped Connor escape the Boston Massacre. He then began his involvement with the revolutionary cause. Connor protected the Sons of Liberty during the Boston Tea Party, and aided Paul Revere ahead of the battles of Lexington and Concord.

RECENT EVENTS

In Assassin's Creed: Nexus VR, you embody Connor as he is contacted by Achilles to rescue an imprisoned Son of Liberty in Boston. In this brand-new adventure, get caught up in a world of espionage, intrigue, and betrayal.

Development

Initially announced alongside the since-canceled Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell VR at the Oculus Quest virtual event in September 2020, Nexus is being developed primarily by Red Storm Entertainment with additional help from Ubisoft Düsseldorf, Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Reflections.[2][3]

The conceptual title of the game, Assassin's Creed: Nexus VR, was credibly leaked on 6 September 2022 and reported by Tom Henderson of Try Hard Guides.[4] Henderson has also reportedly leaked many more details of the game, none of which have been substantiated.[2] In February 2023, Henderson revealed the supposed release date of Nexus and stated more details would become available when the game is officially announced in June.[5]

Release

Assassin's Creed: Nexus VR will be released for the Oculus Quest 3, 2, and Pro in holiday season of 2023.[1]

Marketing

A trailer for Nexus was released at Ubisoft Forward 2023 on June 12 2023.
