The Kanièn:keh Nation Territory, commonly known today as the Mohawk Valley,[1] is the valley formed by the Adirondack Mountains to the north and Catskill Mountains to the south that follows the Mohawk River.[1] It is a central part of the Kanien'kehá:ka homeland,[1] and by extension, it comprised the "Eastern Door" of the Iroquois Confederacy.[2] Today, it is situated entirely in New York State.
