The Temple of Sekhmet was a temple complex located in Yamu by Lake Mareotis. It was known for its Festival of Sekhmet, which commemorated the lion goddess' victory against Isfet, culminating in an event in which a Champion of Sekhmet fought a Champion of Isfet in a reenactment of the myth.[1] Menehet, an old friend of the Medjay Bayek of Siwa, served as a priest in the temple, and was promoted to be the second in command by the High Priest.[2]
The High Priest also renovated the temple sometime between 53 BCE and 48 BCE, as well as its customs, creating ceremonies "showing [the Yamuans'] "rustic" way of life".[2]
