Pylenor was a priest of Asklepios working at the Sanctuary of Asklepios in Argolis, Greece during the 5th century BCE.
Biography
During the Peloponnesian War he assigned the Spartan misthios Kassandra to deal with the sacred snakes that had invaded the bathhouse at the Sanctuary, and inadvertently caused the death of a patient. In return, he promised to tell Kassandra what he knew about a Spartan woman and an injured baby who had come to the Sanctuary in the past.[1]
Kassandra did as asked, but when she returned, Pylenor confessed that the visitation had taken place before his time, and he didn't actually know anything about it. He did direct Kassandra to seek out Mydon, an elder priest, but also warned that Mydon would not be talking.[1]
