Poseidon is a Greek god of the sea, horses and earthquakes. His Roman counterpart is Neptune. He is regarded as one of the Twelve Olympians, the major deities of the Greek pantheon. He is also the brother of Zeus and Hades.
He was considered to be the protector of seafarers.
