Lake Moeris, also known as the Sea of Sobek, is a lake located northwest of the Faiyum Oasis, formed from the overflow of the Nile.

Around 48 BCE, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa travelled to the lake in search of Hotephres, an informant of Apollodorus who had information on the whereabouts of the Order of the Ancients member, the Crocodile. Have investigated clues from Hotephres' bureau, Bayek found him on a ship in the lake. Introducing himself, Hotephres directed him to the town of Euhemeria, where he had hidden a ledger on the Crocodile's identity in his villa.[1]
