Jomsborg was a semi-legendary Viking stronghold, located on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea.
History
During the Viking era, it served as the base of operations for the Jomsvikings, an order of Viking mercenaries which adhered to a strict code of conduct.
Outraged and in search of allies, Styrbjörn the Strong ventured to the stronghold in order to acquire their services at some point during the 10th century.[1]
In around 985, Harald Bluetooth, the King of Denmark and Norway died here.
