Enkidu was an Eastern imperial eagle which accompanied the thief-turned-Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq during the 9th century.
Biography
Enkidu was raised in the Hidden Ones' camp in Alamut's cliffside by the Eagle-Master Fuladh. Like the other eagles, Enkidu was to be entrusted a member of the brotherhood as a companion once it has been fully trained. In February 862, Enkidu was introduced by Fuladh to a new initiate of the brotherhood, Basim. During the introduction, Fuladh described Enkidu as having a similar personality to Basim.[1]
Eventually, after months of training, Enkidu was assigned to Basim after he completed his induction ceremony into the Hidden Ones.[2] As his companion, and synchronizing with his Eagle Vision, he helped to locate targets and objects of interest as well as marking dangers as such as nearby guards on the streets and garrisons.[3]
Following the events that took place in the Alamut Temple, Enkidu ultimately rejected Basim as his master, clawing his face and flew away when he was summoned.[4]
Behind the scenes
Enkidu first appeared in Assassin's Creed: Mirage's reveal livestream, flying in the skies above the city. His name was first revealed in a report by Game Informer,[5] and is a reference to the legendary figure of the same name from ancient Mesopotamian mythology.
