Given what a prominent role bounties play in Odyssey, it makes sense to have an article for it.

"Blessings to you, two-legs. I am Zoe, Daughter of Artemis."
―Zoe introducing herself to Kassandra, 420s BCE.[src]-[m]

Zoe was a Daughter of Artemis who lived on the Greek island of Chios during the 5th century BCE.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Feeling a kinship to animals that went even beyond some of her 'sisters', Zoe tended to call humans 'two-legs', as opposed to the four-legged animals. The Athenians who had come "from the west years ago", turning Chios' forests into lumber and quarrying stone, stealing from Chios, she called 'stone-dwellers'.[1]

Bearing a grudge against the 'stone-dwellers', Zoe attempted to sabotage their operations, but was caught by soldiers, and bound outside temple of Poseidon in the city. Fortunately for her, the Spartan misthios Kassandra noticed her peril, and intervened.[1]

While Kassandra remained behind to deal with the soldiers, Zoe ran off to a small cliff behind the temple, howling in delight over being free again. She called Kassandra to follow her, thanking her for her help.[1]

Pointing out the camps south of Chios, Zoe asked Kassandra to help her and her friends get their revenge on the soldiers. As it turned out, she meant wolves, caged within the camps by the same soldiers that had held her. In return for this, Zoe promised Kassandra she'd give her her finest bow.[1]

True to her word, Zoe did as she'd promised, once her 'family' had been freed, greeting Kassandra as "warrior of Artemis", and commending her for her deeds.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The name of Zoe, a character in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, is based on the Greek word ζωή (zōḗ), meaning 'life'.

Regardless of which faction is in control of the Petrified Islands, the soldiers guarding Zoe will always be Athenians. Killing them invokes no bounty.
