Sheshanka (died 48 BCE), also known as the Caretaker, was the leader of the Cult of Wadjet in Faiyum, Egypt during the reign of Ptolemy XIII.[1]

When Greeks started settling down in the Faiyum, statues of Egyptian deities were gradually replaced with Serapis, causing Sheshanka to bear a hatred towards the Greeks. In response, he started a cult in worshipped of Wadjet, the patron deity of all Egypt, and began conducting attacks against Greeks residents and travellers in the Faiyum.
