Pellene

Pellene was the easternmost polis of Achaia, a region in Greece. In the 5th century BCE, its outskirts were scavenging grounds for reclaimed lumber, which became a vital part of Achaia's overall ship-building industry based in Patrai.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War, Pellene also became the first polis to join Sparta's Peloponnesian League.[2]
