Niall Hobday's corpse

Niall Hobday (died 1872) was a constable of the Metropolitan Police Service of London, England, from 1870 until his death. Described as "not the brightest spark" in the force by Inspector Frederick Abberline, Hobday became embroiled in a Templar plot to steal pages of the Voynich manuscript.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In 1872, the American Templar agent Alice tracked down some of the manuscript pages to the British Museum in London. She used her contacts with the Blighters to extort Hobday into becoming her accomplice, using his gambling debts to the bookies as leverage. While Alice was on the rooftops as a distraction, she had Hobday retrieve the personal details of Head Clerk of Acquisitions Edward Feather. Afterwards, she had Hobday killed and dumped into a gutter at the Strand.[1]
