Montmartre is a hill and district in northern Paris, France.
History[edit | edit source]
3rd century[edit | edit source]
In the mid-to-late 3rd century, the Roman bishop of Lutetia, Denis, was beheaded and martyred in Montmartre for his faith. Legend then tells that he picked up his head and walked to the village of Catolacus, later Saint-Denis, where he finally collapsed and was buried.[1]
19th century[edit | edit source]
In 1889, the British Assassin Simeon Price found a residence in Montmartre while working low-level missions for the French Brotherhood under the Master Assassin Michel Moulin. He was soon visited by his friend and fellow Assassin Fabrice Sabourin, who informed him of his task to find and assassinate Simeon's former partner, the Austrian Templar and Countess Konstanze von Visler, who had arrived in Paris for the Gallery of Machines. Agreeing not to interfere, Simeon knew better and left to locate her hotel room near the gallery.[2]
After his failed attempt to locate Konstanze,[2] Simeon received his former apprentice Pierrette Arnaud and her ward Spider Wallin at a train station. They came to help stop the countess and her plans with the Engine of History at the Eiffel Tower, in order to preserve Ada Lovelace's memory.[3]
