Mexico, officially the United Mexican States, is a country located in southern North America. It is bordered to the north by the United States and to the southeast by Guatemala, Belize and the Caribbean Sea, on the east by the Gulf of Mexico and on the west by the Pacific Ocean.

Age of Discovery[edit | edit source]

In 1519, the Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés led an expedition to Mexico. The Assassin Giovanni Borgia accompanied the Spaniards, posing as a chronicler in order to find a Piece of Eden. The group of explorers sailed to Tenochtitlan, where they used translators to communicate with the local Aztecs upon their arrival in 1520. The Aztecs and their leader Moctezuma welcomed the Spaniards into their home, believing them to be gods.[1]

Tensions flared as the Spanish explorers lusted after the Aztecs' abundance of gold while expressing their disgust at the demonstration of human sacrifice. Eventually, the entire city erupted into violence in what became known as the Night of Sorrows. Moctezuma was killed, and in the chaos, Giovanni seized the opportunity to assassinate an Aztec priest and take their Crystal Skull. The Spaniards escaped Tenochtitlan.[1][2][3]

Two centuries later, the Assassins and the indigenous peoples had formed a Caribbean Brotherhood based in the former Maya city of Tulum.[4]

Age of Enlightenment[edit | edit source]

In 1716, the novice pirate captain Alonzo Batilla stole a schooner called the Wanderer with the help of his fellow pirate Olivier Levasseur in Scorpion Reef.[5]

Some time in the 1750s, the Templars had established a working colony in Chichen Itza, attempting to uncover artifacts from the ancient Isu ruins in the area. In 1769, the Assassin Aveline de Grandpré visited the colony and recovered one half of the Prophecy Disk from the ruins, while also assassinating the colony's overseer and the Templar Rafael Joaquín de Ferrer. Aveline returned in 1772, when she recovered the second half of the Prophecy Disk from another First Civilization ruin.[6]

In 1986, a member of the Inner Sanctum of the Templar Order Alan Rikkin led a strike-team to capture Mary Lynch in Baja California. Intending to put the Assassin into an Animus to uncover clues to the whereabouts of the Artifact, they arrived too late. Though they captured her husband, Joseph, Rikkin was unable to prevent Mary's suicide or stop the escape of her son, Callum.[7][8]

Erudito posted a fake news story on 7 September 2012, which reported an increase of illegal American immigrants into the country.[9]

As of 2014, the Templar Order has a Grand Master in Mexico.[10]
