Lake Kopais was a lake and a region in Boeotia, Greece, until it was drained in the 19th century. Within the lake was an island that held the fortified city of Gla, which dated back to the Mycenaen period.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra explored the region.[2]
