Kydonia (Ancient Greek: Κυδωνία) is a site on the Greek island of Krete. In classical antiquity, it was a polis located in the Little Egypt region of Messara.
History[edit | edit source]
In the 6th century BCE, Kydonia was re-founded by the Samians; still, its history pre-dated this event and thus it was considered one of the oldest cities in Crete. [citation needed]
The Temple of Artemis Diktynna is situated above the city.
The city housed the home of Kresilas, a sculptor known for his statue of the Athenian general Perikles.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
